Experience an 18th-Century Marketplace

Take in the sights and sounds of the marketplace on Mount Vernon’s 12-acre field while you explore thousands of unique colonial items. 

You’ll have the opportunity to chat with the expert artisans and watch some of them demonstrate their craft using 18th-century techniques right in front of you.

Throughout the marketplace, you may smell fresh-baked bread and other foods available.

Play games from the colonial era on the bowling green and visit the market square to listen to live music.

Take Home Handcrafted Treasures From Artisans

Browse the wares available for sale at the pop-up colonial marketplace. Artisans from across the nation demonstrate their trades and sell their creations.

You can expect to find things like baskets, brooms, ceramics, fiber and textiles, furniture, jewelry, metalcraft, painting materials, papercraft, plants, soaps, woodcraft, and much more.

Take a Mansion Tour

During your visit, take a tour of George Washington’s iconic home. 

Please note that the New Room, Study, Servants’ Hall, and Kitchen are open. All other rooms are off-view due to preservation work.
